Editorial : From Publishers Weekly Edie Spence, nurse to the paranormal, falls victim to her own messianic complex in Alexander's entertaining sequel to Nightshifted. After Edie witnesses a hit-and-run and tries to save the victim—who turns out to be the werewolf king—she is hunted by strange weres. Is it a matter of pack politics, or is it about Edie's agreement to be the ceremonial ambassador of the living vampire Anna? Edie's story is driven by her inability to say no to Anna, her junkie brother, the werewolf king's daughter, or even a ghost-possessed vampire cyborg servant. Her casual attitude toward sex ( I'm going to take you like I own you, Edie, says her lover; Just for tonight, she replies) leads to some steamy scenes of stress relief, and her determination to remain emotionally aloof is wonderfully undermined by her developing friendships. Edie's growing personality—and the cliffhanger ending—will keep fans hooked to the trilogy's conclusion. Agent: Michelle Browe

Because of the subject matter, I think this book resonates beyond the young adult audience and would be enjoyed by adults as well as all walks of sexual orientation.

There are a few things I would've liked to have seen like Lauren struggling more with intimacy and vulnerability after she gets in the relationship and, in a way, I felt closer to Cameron in the first half of the book than the second so I wish that intimacy would have stayed with her. After a few minutes she commandeered my copy and took it home. Bob Marshall should be on Mt. I was surprised to learn few things about Marshall, like the fact that he abandoned his Jewish faith and became and agnostic socialist. Given the author's experience, buying advice would have been worth a lot to me.

As an electrical engineer, I was also at the receiving end of several well-placed jabs by the author. Makes your doctors sit up and take notes when you talk about how YOU want to treat your depression. Would recommend
