This is because Ryoma Echizen, the twelve-year-old tennis prodigy, has reasons for the way in which he behaves, and as the volumes of the manga progress, we slowly get to understand him better. Wonderful story. There is a brief but thorough description of each home and then lots and lots of pictures of each one.
