The "Tairy Fales" shows how Spoonerisms or reversing sounds on pairs of words can yield some madcap results. I enjoyed reading this book. But he was not one to be discouraged. Just like we understand the genre of biblical poetry and don't literalize the obvious figurative language in the Psalms and prophetical books, so also, we must be sensitive to the nature of the writing and intent of the Gospel authors as well, and not treat the Gospels in a manner that does not fit the original perspective of the writers.
