(N.B. It's a door of normalization method. A glossary included at the back identifies many kinds of medieval armor and weaponry depicted in the movies, and could be at least as useful for someone interested in medieval and Renaissance era warfare as a LotR fan.

Be warned, however, that this book follows Peter Jackson's trilogy closer than Tolkien's. has to learn how to be a Dad to his toddler daughter (whose mother has abandoned her) while falling in love with Pepper, no small feat. I heartily recommend this book and have given it as a gift.. The premise is original, the world building is supreme, and the writing is great! Dragons, evil wizard, new friend just the right ingredients for a great children's fantasy book! I loved the book and highly recommend it to middle grade kids and up!
