But the horses, though magnificent, aren't my favorite. arrived early - reasonable price.. I highly recommend this book for yourself or as a gift to someone who loves Asian culture, history, and art. As demonstrated by the choice of cover art, Hsu Bei-Hong was a transformative figure in both Chinese art and moderm impressionist art with his distinctive treatment of the horse in motion. Have been buying this for many years. I found the book to be of assistance.. High quality paper, takes pencil or ink beautifully. If you are looking for examples of a brad spectrum of art works, this volume has it. A beautiful book. Hsu took those same qualities and infused them into his style of horse painting. If you are looking fir in depth discussion of the masterful horse paintings, this volume will leave you wanting more.. So if you are looking for some excellent basic marerial on the artist and his life in China prior to and after 1949 revolution, this may be one of the only English sources. I did
